Dal Makhani

Dal Makhani is also called Maa Ki Dal in punjabi.

Ingredients :

  • 1 1/2 cup black urad dal (Black gram)             
  • 1/2 cup rajma (Red kidney beans)                 
  • 1/2 cup onion finely chopped 
  • 2 nos Tomatoes finely chopped
  • Corriender leaves finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Ginger/garlic paste                            
  • 2 tbsp dal makhani masala (I would recommend MDH Dal Makhani Masala)
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder                              
  • 1/2 Cumin seeds                                    
  • Salt to taste
  • 2tbsp Oil                                               
  • 3 tbsp fresh cream                                            

Method:

1. Soak black urad dal & rajma together overnight.
2. Pressure cook urad dal & rajma upto 4 whistles.
3. In a kadhai or pan take some oil add cumin (jeera) allow it to crackle.
4. Add ginger/garlic paste saute a min, now add onion and saute.
5. When the onion turns translucent add all the masalas & tomatoes. Mix well & saute till masala is well cooked.
6. Now add the cooked rajma & urad dal. Mix some water, stir & cover with the lid for some time.
7. Add salt and cream. Mix well. Let it boil for few more minutes on low heat.
8. Garnish with corriender leaves and cream.
9. Serve hot with naan or roti.
