Karela Masala

Karela or bittergroud is one of the nutritive vegetable but often disliked because of its bitter taste. In this recipe I the karela tastes great and it can be cooked quickly.

Ingredients :

2 nos Karela
1 medium size onion finely chopped
Finely chopped fresh coriander leaves for garnishing
1/2 tsp garlic paste

1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
Pinch of hing
Salt to taste
2 tbsp Oil

Method :

1. Scrap the outer portion of the karela. Cut in half and remove the center.
2. Apply little salt and press the karelas to remove the bitter juice.
3. Now finely chop the karela and onion.
4. In kadhai or pan heat oil add cumin seeds and allow to crackle. Add hing.
5. Add chopped onions and garlic paste and saute till onions are well cooked.
6. Add all the spices mix well.
7. Add the chopped karela and mix well.
8. Cook the sabji till well done.
9. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with chapati.
10. Enjoy!
