Chickpea Sundal / Channa Sundal

Sundal can be made with any bean seeds of your choice. Its popularly made using chickpea/channa/kabuli channa. Its quick snack and very healthy as its low in fat and high in protein. You can have it as a afternoon snack or side dish during your meals.
Ingredients :

  • 1 cup Chickpeas/ channa soaked overnight
  • 1/2 cup fresh coconut
  • 2 green chillis
  • Small piece of ginger
  • Few curry leaves
  • Fresh chopped corriender leaves for garnishing
  • 1 dry red chilli
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • Pinch of asafotida/hing
  • 2tsp oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • Salt to taste

Method :

1. Pressure cook the channa till well cooked.
2. Grind coconut, green chillis and ginger together.
3. Heat oil add mustard seeds and allow it to crackle. Add asafotida.
4. Add curry leaves, dry red chilli and coconut mixture.
5. Saute for 5 mins. Add channa.
6. Sprinkle little water and cover the pan.
7. Let it cook for 10 mins.
8. Add salt and lemon juice. Mix well.
9. Put off the flame and let it stand for sometime.


10. Garnish with corriender leaves. 
11. Enjoy!
