Chilli Corn Buns

Nice hot and fresh chilli corn buns with a cup of hot tea or coffee on weekends during winters specially make the day. 


Ingredients :
For the dough:
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 packet active dry yeast
  • 1tbsp vegetable oil or olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup warm water for yeast
  • 1 tsp for mixed Italian herbs (optinal)
  • 1/2 cup water for needing the dough, you may need a little more to sprinkle.
For filling :
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen corn
  • 1 medium hot and medium size green chillis finely sliced
  • Finely chopped corriender leaves
  • Grated mozzarella cheese as desired
  • Salt to taste
  • Pinch of black pepper powder (optional)
  • Chilli flakes / red pepper (optinal)
  • 1 tsp oil 
Method : 
For the dough :
1. Ferment the yeast as per instructions on the packet.
2. In large bowl combine all ingredients listed under the dough.
3. Mix water as required to make a semi hard / medium tight dough.
4. Knead well.
5. Rest the dough for sometime. Keep it covered with moist cloth to retain its moisture.
6. Mean while we will make the filling.

For the filling :
1. Heat oil in pan. Add green chilli saute for a minute.
2. Add corn and saute for 5 mins.
3. Add salt and red pepper. Mix well.
4. If your are using frozen corn take care that no water or moisture should remain. The filling should be dry.
5. Remove from the flame and add chopped corriender leaves. Mix well.

The filling is ready.
By this time the dough should be ready.


 Method for making the buns :
1. Make equal size balls from the dough.
2. Take a dough ball in a hand and with light hands make a cup of the dough as shown in the below picture.

 
3. Now place the filling in the center and seal from all the sides and make a nice plain ball and keep aside. Similarly make for all buns.
4. Place them on the baking tray. I have used the pizza tray.


5. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and bake them till light brown.
6. Once baked brush them with some butter. And let it rest to cool a little and then serve.
