Gola Bhaat is typical Maharastrian dish cooked in Vidharbha area in Maharashtra. Besan/chickpea flour is used to make balls which are known Gola and cooked in rice thats called bhaat in Marathi language. Marathi Language is the mother tongue of Marathi people in Maharashtra in India. The dish tastes delicious with kadhi. So lets go ahead with the recipe.

Method :
For making gola :
1. In Bowl mix all ingredients listed under ingredients of gola. Mix well.
2. Add water and make a semi soft dough. Rest for some time.
3. Make cylindrical or round shape balls and keep covered to avoid drying.
For rice :
1. Heat oil in a deep pan, add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Allow them to crackle.
2. Add hing and haldi powder.
3. Add rice, 1 1/2 cup water add salt. Mix well and if needed add more water.
4. Cover and let it cook.
How to cook gola bhaat together :
1. Once the rice is half done place the gola keeping little distance between them.
2. Cover the pan and the the rice cook completely.
3. Once the rice is cooked the golas will also be cooked with them.
4. Once the dish is cooked keep it covered till serving.
5. Just before serving transfer it to the serving bowl.
6. It tastes best when hot and with kadhi.
7. When served on to the plate you can pour some "Marathi Tadka" to it.
For Marathi Tadka : Heat 4 tabsp oil add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and allow them to crackle. Add some dry red chillis and its ready to be served. Hot sizzling tadka.

- 2 tsp garlic paste
- 2 tsp red chilli powder
- 2 tsp corriender powder
- 2 tsp cumin powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil

- 2 cup rice
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- Pinch of hing/asafotida
- 1 tsp haldi/turmeric
- Salt to taste
- 2 tsp oil
