Tandoori Babycorn

Tandoori Baby corn makes a great and yummy starter. Baby corn marinated in curd and spices, then grilled in a tandoor or pan or in oven.

Ingredients :

  • 1 packet or can of baby corn
  • 1 tbsp ginger paste
  • 1/2 tbsp garlic paste
  • 1/2 cup curd
  • 2 tsp tandoori masala
  • 1 1/2 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp tumeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as required
  • Onion rings for garnishing
  • Bell peppers for garnishing
  • Green chutney as accompaniment

Method :

1. Hung or strain the curd until all water is squeezed.
2. If you are using canned or bottled babycorn then in colander strain the babycorn. They should be completely dry before marination.
3. In bowl add curd mix ginger-garlic paste, all spices and mix well. Do not add salt.
4. Add the babycorn in the curd mixture and mix well.

5. Salt will be added when they are ready to cook.
6. Once the babycorn is marinated cover with a lid and refrigarate atleast for 6 hours.
7. If you want to use oven then arrange them on oven save pan and bake at 400 degress and then broil it to get the brown colour and to make it crisp.
8. I would recommend to use a grill pan or a simple pan. I have used grill pan.
9. Once marinated add salt and mix well. Take 1/2 tsp of oil and spread the oil evenly in the pan.
10. On medium - high heat/ flame place all the marinated babycorn in the pan.

11. Keep turning them till light golden brown.

12. Once they all are cooked to keep them warm and to avoid softening, place them on a pizza pan and keep the oven setting on broil at 200 degrees. Place them in oven till serving.
13. For garnishing and to enhance taste, take some onion rings, chopped corriender leaves, salt, lemon juice and some black pepper powder. Mix well. In a serving plate arrange as desired or shown in the below picture.
14. Serve with green chutney as accompaniment.
15. Enjoy!
